Director of Music, St John the Evangelist, Perry Barr
After 10 years of faithful service our Director of Music is stepping down and therefore we seek to appoint a qualified Director of Music to lead the music in our worship going forward.
We are a friendly, welcoming, inclusive church of the Modern Anglo Catholic tradition. There is a small but enthusiastic choir which helps lead the choral music at each service. The main duties of the role will include:
- Playing organ and keyboard each Sunday morning for our Parish Mass and all other main festivals. At present we use an Ordinary or Festal Mass setting on Sundays, dependent upon the liturgical calendar.
- To lead and play for church choir practices which are held usually fortnightly but at times weekly and to encourage and grow this friendly and committed group.
At present St John’s is in interregnum but hope to have a new incumbent in place in the near future. It is the hope at St John’s that the new vicar and the Director of Music will work together to provide excellent music to the glory of God, now and in the future.
The current rate of pay is £60.00 per hour and £80.00 for any funerals or weddings undertaken. These rates are to be reviewed in April of this year.
