About our curate

Mother Laura Ward joined us as curate in June 2020.   

Mother Laura was born in Sutton Coldfield and attended St Paul’s Convent School, run by the Sisters Charity of St Paul the Apostle for her infant and junior school years. Before moving to Highclare School in Erdington for her senior and sixth form education. Staying close to home, Mother Laura attending the University of Birmingham to read Human Biology. After graduation she moved to London and continued further study and research in the field at King’s College London.

 

After completion of this work, Mother Laura started work as a trainee accountant at a small family firm in the Jewellery Quarter, Birmingham before moving to complete her training at Grant Thornton in the City Centre. Following several years of service in the business and commercial sector, Mother Laura transferred her skills to the Charity Sector taking up a project as Finance Manager at Lichfield Cathedral. During her time there she worked with the Dean and Chapter to transition and restructure the Cathedral’s finance function and outlook.

 

Mother Laura, her husband Thomas and their son Tobias have worshipped at St Peters, Sutton Coldfield and from here went forward to train for the priesthood at St Stephen’s House, Oxford. Whilst there she was House Sacristan, Common Room Secretary and Acting President of the Common Room.

 

In her spare time Mother Laura enjoys reading, baking, music, ballet, ballroom dancing and walks in the countryside. She is also an Aspirant to the Sodality of Mary, Mother of Priests a dispersed Marian community of priests from across the worldwide Anglican Communion.
